Booking A Dog Home Boarder

Always visit the boarder’s home with your pet prior to a first booking to make sure you are relaxed where your pet will be staying and also for the boarder to meet your dog. On this first visit the boarder will give you a pet information form that you complete and bring with you when you drop your pet off at the start of the booking, asking for your details, emergency name and number, vets details, any medication that needs to be administered, feeding times, walks etc so you can be away confident your pet is in safe hands and all eventualities are covered should they arise.

Let the boarder know if your dog is good with other dogs or aggressive, if you give permission for your dog to be walked off lead, the boarder will ask you to sign a form to confirm this.

Ask where your dog will be walked, i.e. parks, woodlands etc, is it safe, secure and away from traffic

Many owners book their dogs with their chosen boarder for one day/night prior to main booking for peace of mind that their pet will be comfortable in their temporary home, it is also advisable to bring with an item of clothing with your scent if it’s your dog’s first stay with the boarder.

The boarder will ask for part payment of the agreed fee prior to booking as confirmation you wish to proceed, with the balance payable on the collection of your dog.

The dog owner is responsible for supplying the boarder with all foods, treats, toys and bedding during their pets stay.

Don’t be shy in asking if the boarder can send a picture of your dog every few days via mobile phone, so you are relaxed about the welfare of your dog whilst your away.

Always take your boarders telephone number with you whilst away

Certain times of the year, peak holiday months JULY – SEPT, Xmas and Easter are a lot busier than other times so it’s advisable to book your chosen boarder well in advance to avoid disappointment of them being fully booked.
